Personal health and Laughing Child Update
Bless you for your loving prayers for me through many weeks of chemo and radiation cancer treatments. I certainly needed the encouragement of your prayers. It was a much more difficult season than expected. Unfortunately, I felt extremely sick after the first day of treatments and worse every week for over two months. A snail’s pace recovery reminds me daily of the physical toll taken. I totally lost the capacity to swallow or speak for an 8 week period. Even with the necessary aid of a feeding tube I ended up losing 45 pounds. Though it has been 6 weeks since the last treatment, I have only regained 3 pounds and my voice is very weak and tires quickly. It seems that I am facing what promises to be an extended recovery. Thank you for praying for me as I press on toward healing from the impacts of the cancer, permanent tongue paralysis, and the one-two punch of concentrated chemo and radiation treatments. My heart, mind, spirit, and body covet your prayers. Thank you so much!
As usual, Father’s goodness through the ministry of Laughing Child, is a true highlight in my life. I cannot express enough gratitude to our amazing team in Mexico for carrying out the blessing and responsibilities of our Family Bridges ministry. They work tirelessly to serve families faced with the challenges of raising children with special needs. Our team is uniquely called and trained for this life-giving outreach. This Saturday is the closing session of our revised and extended ten-week program. We are in conversation with other cities toward the implementation of our Family Bridges ministry. Our team feels so blessed to serve and expand this important work. It was born, and is daily kept, in the heart of our loving Father. What a privilege to extend His healing love to each member of these precious families. Thank you for making this important work possible!
I want to affirm the humbling reality of just how dependent I am on you, the Family of God. I need your prayers and support on so many levels. Please lift me to Father as I continue on an involved journey toward physical healing. Even more, if you remember me, please pray for the ministry of Laughing Child.
