Ministry Announcement and Health Update
It is with full emotion that I write you a brief personal update and make a thrilling ministry announcement.
Health-wise this year will go down in the books as my most difficult yet. You may remember that I experienced exhaustive testing and exploratory surgery over last winter and spring. Much of this summer has been dedicated to recovery. I deeply appreciate your continued prayers as tongue paralysis and other nerve damage present daily struggles with speaking, chewing, and swallowing. I admit that it has been challenging to cope with these seemingly permanent disabilities. Beautifully, Father’s tender love is ever-present through it all. Thank you so much for caring and praying for me.
Incredibly, right in the midst of my personal struggles, Laughing Child is thriving! The 110-page manual for our new Family Bridges Initiative was delivered at the beginning of this month. This morning I received news that our first sessions begin TOMORROW, October 29, in Mexico City. Laughing Child will be hosting a group of parents at the Centro de Atención a la Discapacidad Infantil "La Gaviota” for 6 consecutive Saturdays. Dr Judith, who led the development of our program, will lead the sessions. The children’s 10-session workshops will begin this January. I simply could not be more excited. It really should not be surprising that in my weakness, He shows Himself strong, again and again. Father gets all the glory and you get a lion’s share of gratitude!
Bless you for supporting our outreach to poor families facing the unique challenges of raising healthy children alongside those with severe disabilities. You are a vital part of our small, but mighty, ministry family. Your prayers for me and for Laughing Child provide more strength and encouragement than you can imagine. Bless you from the bottom of my heart.
Warmly,
shane
