A Giving Thanks Update…

Wonderful Laughing Child Family,

I hope that this message finds you and yours enjoying a happy and healthy season of harvest. May your upcoming celebrations of Jesus and the gift of loving togetherness be the most meaningful ever.

Here is what is happening with “little ol’ me” and the ministry of Laughing Child…

It is time again for another full round of medical checkups. Multiple tests and exams will hopefully confirm that cancer is still in absentia. It continues to be something of a challenge to adapt to my new way of speech and swallowing difficulties caused by the damage done by the tumor and the treatments required to kill it. Other minor issues are compounded by my ever-increasing age—a good problem to have. I am grateful to be alive to love, learn, and serve a bit more.

The ministry of Laughing Child is a true bright spot in my life. Much more, it is a life-saving extension of God’s love for the families we serve.

Laughing Child has been moving full speed ahead, outpacing me, as usual. I am deeply grateful to our national leadership in Mexico. They have brilliantly coordinated and executed the last stage of our pilot Family Bridges program—this time with very young kids and teenagers. Sadly, each program we conduct confirms the desperate need for our ministry. We have unearthed even more brokenness and pain than we anticipated in the hearts and minds of these healthy siblings of children living with chronic, terminal, or severe illnesses. Our simple service is making a significant impact. We have received word—from two unrelated people—that one of Mexico’s largest universities is interested in a collaboration with our Family Bridges ministry.

Please continue to pray for Laughing Child as we seek to keep in step with Father’s perfect plan for our ministry of healing and reconciliation in Mexico. I bless you for your compassionate prayers and cheerful generosity in support of the needy families for which God calls and keeps us. You are greatly loved and a blessing far beyond your imagination.

Much Love,

shane
